One thing we strongly suggest for any animal lovers out there is making sure you do your bit for the wildlife over winter and putting out your bird feeders. Although a good tidy up in the garden will make it look smart often wildlife will appreciate it if we eave seed heads on plants for them to eat during the winter. Also not over tidying and emptying your garden leaves a nice barrier and protection for your soil.
Grab your rakes, and start tidying up those leaves, you can make a great compost called leaf mould that will benefit your garden for spring!
Its not only us that can do with wrapping up this winter, you can also keep your plants well protected from the cold using a fleece. You can buy a horticultural fleece that comes in rolls and you wrap it around your plants using string to secure it.
You can still do some planting! Yes, if you plant some bulbs now they will give you a nice little surprise in spring.
Give your grass some care and make sure to tidy up leaves and if you want to maintain the cutting make sure you raise your blades so you don’t scalp the grass.
Feed your soil! All that compost you have been working hard to fill up you can now use on your soil and when it rains it will wash in all the nutrients making a fertile organic soil.
So we hope these few tips have helped you and given you some guidance on how you can give your garden some tummy loving care this winter.
